PreK 3D Collages & Kindergarten/1st grade playground designs and 3D models

PreK 3D Collages
PreK students discussed, explored and discovered many different ways to change paper from flat to 3D while creating these collages. Techniques they explored included folding, bending, rolling, twisting, crumpling, and curling. This activity developed vocabulary, creative problem solving, and fine motor skills.

Kindergarten and 1st grade playground designs & 3D models
Kindergarteners and 1st graders observed and discussed images of many awesome and unique playgrounds on the smartboard. Then they thought about and discussed what their "dream" playground would be like, and drew designs of their dream playground. They presented and spoke about their playgrounds, taking comments from their peers.

After they had drawn a design for their playground, they began working on 3D models of playgrounds. The models could be different from, or similar to, their drawings and they could choose to work with a partner or individually. The 3D models are still in progress. When students are done constructing them, they will paint them. I will be sure to post pictures of the final playground models.
